A Little About Me
My Practice
I am a trilingual (Arabic, English, and French) Clinical psychologist and psychotherapist who is based in Lebanon. With over a decade of clinical experience, she has provided compassionate, insight-oriented care to adults, adolescents, and families across Lebanon, Africa, France, and the UAE.
Deeply attuned to the unique emotional worlds of her patients, Salem builds authentic, trusting therapeutic alliances that foster meaningful healing and transformation.
Her multicultural background and extensive international work have shaped her ability to connect with diverse populations across all stages of life. Her work included cross-border coordination with judicial systems in the UK, Canada, and France to assess parental capacity in kinship and reunification cases involving Lebanon.
Her academic interests include the intersection of attachment and sexuality. Her thesis, The Influence of Attachment Styles on the Expression of Female Sexuality, explores the rich complexity of women’s inner lives highlighting the creative ways they navigate the tension between the desire for intimacy and the enduring echoes of early emotional experiences.
In addition to her clinical work, Salem teaches psychology at the Lebanese Red Cross Faculty of Nursing. She is a strong advocate for the therapist’s own inner work, emphasizing the ethical imperative of personal therapy, clinical supervision, and ongoing self-reflection to ensure deep and ethical engagement with each client.
Training is based on the tripartite concept of:
personal psychoanalysis, supervisions as well as theoretical clinical seminars.
(committed to a psychoanalysis work since 2018 with the IPA (International Psychoanalytical Association) and the EPF (European Psychoanalytical Federation) as a Study Group in 2010, and a Provisional Society in 2021)
As a mental health professional, my expertise spans over different cultural and social settings.
Interested in research on neosexuality, attachment styles and couples dynamics from a social, cultural, philosophical, anthropological and psychoanalytical point of view.
My method combines using the psychodynamic approach to bring awareness to my client’s concerns and challenges, while providing a nurturing and safe environment.
What I'm Like
Structured, containing and warm.
I strongly believe in prioritising the client-therapist connection, as it is a key component for successful treatment. Creative skills allow me to enhance therapeutic horizons.
I am a versatile expert who believes in an integrative approach to human nature and in the strength of a community.
What Can You Expect From My Sessions
My sessions are Insight-oriented which means explorative, sessions turn around what are the psychological factors that influence emotions, thoughts and behaviours.
I help clients understand how their current life problems may be connected with internal conflict, often by exploring the client's past experiences and identifying certain patterns or themes. The process can be speedy occurring over a matter of days or months or extremely lengthy depending on the patient's willingness to explore their emotions and memories.
As insight emerges, so does an increased understanding of one's own behavior. This improved understanding helps to change dysfunctional behaviours that have been causing difficulties.
What are the unconscious internal conflicts stemming from early life experiences?
